What Does Each MBur Candle Scent Smell Like? The Complete Scent Guide
What Does Each MBur Candle Scent Smell Like? The Complete Guide
The first thing you notice about Room Service is that it does not smell like a candle. It smells like a hotel lobby that knows it is better than you. Vanilla and tobacco upfront, saffron and orchid through the middle, tonka bean anchoring the base. That is the point of every scent we make at MBur: it should transport you somewhere specific, not just make a room smell nice in a vague, inoffensive way.
We built every fragrance in this collection from scratch with a clear brief. Not "fresh" or "cozy" as a vibe, but an actual place, a mood, a specific moment you have lived. This guide breaks down each scent so you can find yours without guessing.
The Foundation: Why Our Scents Hit Different
Before the scent breakdown, one thing worth knowing. Every MBur candle starts with 100% beeswax, no blends, no soy filler, no paraffin. Beeswax has the highest melting point of any candle wax, which means it releases fragrance slowly and evenly over a longer burn. Our 12oz candle burns up to 80 hours.
We use wooden wicks, which crackle and throw heat differently than cotton. And every fragrance oil is phthalate free. No toxic fragrance, no chemical dyes. The scent you smell is the scent we designed, not a byproduct of whatever the cheapest ingredient happened to be.
Now, the scents.
Room Service: The Bestseller
Room Service is our number one. It earned that position fast and has held it since launch.
The brief was simple: you saved up for one night at the kind of hotel where the lobby smells better than most people's weddings. You open the door to your room and something is already brewing. Delicate. Warm. The kind of thing that costs more per ounce than you want to think about.
Fragrance notes: vanilla, tobacco, saffron, orchid, tonka bean. It finishes warm, with a base that lingers on fabric and in memory.
Best for: Living rooms, entryways, anywhere you want guests to immediately think you have your life together.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 55hr/$37 | 80hr/$60
"I must say I was apprehensive at first. The size. And I couldn't smell much from the Room Service candle. Once I lit it, however, I fell in love!" Breann B., verified buyer
Retail Therapy: The Scene Stealer
The gate should not have been open. But it was. Inside: dark berries staining everything, white flowers hanging from every surface, someone in the corner stirring something in an old silver pot that smells warm and like it has secrets.
Retail Therapy is our most complex fragrance. Jasmine, amber, peach, black tea, and tonka bean. It is the candle equivalent of a very good party you were not supposed to be at.
Best for: Offices, creative spaces, anyone who thinks candles should have a personality.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 55hr/$37
"This scent has me in a chokehold. I burn it in my room and my living room and it fills my space SOOOOO nicely. There's nothing I hate more than a candle that can't fill the room and baby this is NOT that. This candle permeates every corner of the room." Tiffany Gordon, verified buyer
Wine Down: The Decompression Chamber
Wine Down was built for one specific purpose: the moment you finally stop doing things for other people. Lavender, chamomile, sage, cedar, and sandalwood. It is a spa that is serious about its job. Not a cutesy lavender candle. A full sensory reset.
Best for: Bathrooms, bedrooms, Friday nights.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 55hr/$37
"A lot of other candles tend to give me headaches, but this one was a total game changer. I was able to enjoy the calming aroma without any discomfort. It made my space feel cozy and refreshed at the same time." Nicole D., verified buyer
Do Not Disturb: Spring Before Spring
Nobody warned you that spring would show up in the middle of February. Do Not Disturb captures that specific day. Vanilla, sandalwood, pear, and peach blossom. It finishes warm, like the air does when the sun stays low.
Best for: Bedrooms, reading nooks, any room that needs to feel less like winter.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 55hr/$37 | 80hr/$60
"I love the scent of this candle. It is lovely not overpowering. It's soothing fragrance more than covers my bedroom and bathroom. It is aromatherapy at its best." Dawne Forrest, verified buyer
People Watching: Winter Morning, Someone Cooking Downstairs
It is supposed to be a miserable winter morning. Then someone starts cooking and everything shifts. People Watching is vanilla, cinnamon, orange, clove, and nutmeg. It smells like the kind of morning that makes you forget you had somewhere to be.
Best for: Kitchens, dining rooms, weekend mornings.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 55hr/$37
"I love this candle. I burn it everyday and my whole place smells AMAZING." Jessica H., verified buyer
Sunday Reset: The Clean That Did Not Happen
Sunday Reset was built on one specific lie we all tell ourselves: the apartment is clean because it smells clean. Eucalyptus, peppermint, and cedar. The result is that "just cleaned everything" feeling, even if you absolutely did not just clean everything.
Best for: Home offices, living rooms, any Sunday that got away from you.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 80hr/$60
Adi: Brunch in Candle Form
Adi is an explosion of citrus that smells exactly as good as brunch tastes. Lemon, orange, grapefruit, mandarin, and lime. It is the candle you burn when you want the room to feel like a vacation you are overdue for.
Best for: Kitchens, bathrooms, morning routines.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 55hr/$37
"Everything from this company is amazing so this candle matching that energy is no surprise. Will definitely be buying again." Eboni Ellis, verified buyer
Touch Grass: After the Rain
Touch Grass smells like standing in a garden right after it rained and realizing you have been inside too long. Fig, cedar, coconut, amber, and tonka bean. It finishes grounded rather than sweet.
Best for: Living rooms, offices, anywhere that needs to feel less like a screen and more like outside.
Sizes: 20hr/$20
Zesty: The One That Commands a Room
Zesty was built around a specific kind of presence: confident, modern, not trying too hard. Lavender, amber, jasmine, patchouli, and vanilla. It is the candle that does not blend into the background of a room. It introduces itself.
Best for: Living rooms, home offices, anywhere you want a scent that has opinions.
Sizes: 40hr/$23 | 80hr/$60
Just to Clarify: The Tea Room
Just to Clarify is calm, specific, and a little unexpected. Lemon, bergamot, green tea, and sandalwood. A room with good light, stone floors, and two mugs of tea steeping at different temperatures. It is our most understated fragrance. Sometimes quiet is the statement.
Best for: Home offices, meditation spaces, anyone who finds most candles too loud.
Sizes: 40hr/$23
Out of Office: Bright and Open
Out of Office was built for rooms that feel closed in. Coconut, pineapple, and spearmint. The scent is airy and green with a brightness that makes a space feel genuinely larger. It is the opposite of cozy: it is expansive.
Best for: Small apartments, WFH spaces, any room that needs more air than it has.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 80hr/$60
Slice of Life: The Open Kitchen Window
Slice of Life is what happens when you walk into a bright kitchen with the windows already open and citrus on the counter. Thyme, basil, tomato leaf, and lemongrass. It is the most honest fragrance we make. No bells. No complexity. Just a room that smells like it belongs to someone who has their priorities straight.
Best for: Kitchens, bathrooms, minimalist spaces.
Sizes: 20hr/$20 | 40hr/$23 | 80hr/$60
How to Pick Your Scent Without Overthinking It
If you want something that stops guests in the doorway: Room Service. If you want something that makes your whole apartment smell alive: Retail Therapy. If you want to decompress without incense energy: Wine Down. If you want mornings to feel better: People Watching or Adi. If you want clean without cleaning: Sunday Reset. If you want outside brought inside: Touch Grass or Out of Office.
The 20-hour size at $20 is the lowest-commitment way to try any scent before sizing up.
MBur vs. The Alternatives
Most candles at this price point use paraffin, which is petroleum waste, full stop. Paraffin releases benzene and toluene when burned. Soy is cleaner but is frequently blended with paraffin and almost always uses toxic fragrance oils to compensate for soy's weak scent throw.
Bath and Body Works candles are popular for a reason. The scents are strong and consistent. But they use paraffin blends and toxic fragrance, and more than a few of our customers have told us directly what that costs them.
"I absolutely love these candles! I instantly notice the difference in the air quality, in comparison to the Bath and Body scented candles. I love Bath and Body's candles but I acknowledge that it caused a slight headache and other minor respiratory discomfort. Awesome products. Totally addicted." Jason H., verified buyer
Brands like Otherland and Boy Smells make genuinely good candles with cleaner ingredients. They are worth knowing. But neither uses 100% beeswax, and neither gets to 80 hours on a 12oz candle.
