The flower yields no usable oil, so every lily of the valley in perfumery is reconstructed from other materials. It smells green and dewy and slightly metallic. That dewiness is what most people are actually calling "clean laundry."
Iris
Iris reads cool and powdery, closer to face powder or rice than to a flower. It is the note that keeps the fragrance from turning sweet, and it is the reason the scent feels a little formal even when it is soft.
White musk

A fragrance is built to work on skin. Warmth from your body pushes it out slowly, in a radius of maybe an arm's length. Air does not hold it, because there is nothing in the air to keep releasing it.

Now the part almost nobody lists. The rest of the bottle is mostly alcohol and water. As an eau de toilette, Lazy Sunday Morning carries about 5 to 9 percent perfume oil. Eau de parfum concentrations run higher, roughly 8 to 14 percent, which is why they hit harder and stay longer.

Alcohol evaporates fast. It carries the top notes off the skin in a rush, which is why the aldehydes can feel sharp for a minute and then vanish. Most wearers report about 4 to 6 hours of wear. Some people say they still catch it nine hours later, usually on fabric rather than skin.
There is also chatter that batches made after 2020 wear lighter and project less than older bottles. I cannot verify that and will not assert it, but it comes up often enough that it is worth knowing before you blame yourself.
If you own the bottle, a few things genuinely help. Spray straight out of the shower while your skin is still damp. Use three or four sprays total, one on each side of the neck and one on each wrist, from about 15 to 20 centimeters away. Plenty of good houses sell candle versions of their fragrances. Le Labo, Byredo and Diptyque all have strong reputations here, and their candles are styled to sit in the same world as their perfumes. If you want a literal extension of a designer scent, that is the aisle to shop.
What those candles usually do not tell you is what the wax is. That is the part I care about, because the wax decides how the fragrance reaches you.
The wax sets the ceiling on everything else
Paraffin is what is left over after crude oil is refined into fuel. The lighter fractions get pulled off for gasoline and kerosene, and the heavy waxy residue is bleached and sold to candle makers. It is cheap, it holds a lot of fragrance oil, and it is petroleum leftover, full stop.
Soy is a step up, though soy candles are often blended with paraffin to fix burn problems, and "soy wax" on a label does not tell you the ratio. Beeswax comes out of the hive as a byproduct of honey production. Bees secrete it to build comb, so it needs no chemical processing to become candle wax.

Then keep wearing it. A candle and a fragrance are not competing for the same job, and layering a soft musk on skin over a soft candle in the room usually works fine. Light the candle 20 minutes before you want the room to smell like anything, and spray yourself last.
